A Great Selection of Holiday Books

Mother Reader has posted a nice list of winter holiday books from around the world today, and points out that we are sorely lacking in a good story about Divaali. You hear that? If you have a story to tell, you know where to send it. (Um, to us. Yeah.)

National Geographic has a new series of books explaining holidays around the world. Each book features one holiday, and they look like they are full of beautiful photographs and clear explanations. So far, there are four books in the series: Diwali, Hanukkah, Ramadan & Eid Al-Fitr, and Thanksgiving.

Lisa Yee Talks to The Edge of the Forest

One of my favorite author's blogs is Lisa Yee's (Millicent Min, Girl Genius, Stanford Wong Flunks Big Time). She has such an infectious sense of humor that comes through her posts that I can always count on a smile when I see that a new post is up. It's not that every post is comical (though many are-- my favorite of late was the dueling Halloween peeps), but every one is infused with a sense of joyfulness with life itself. This attitude comes through in her books, too, and in her interview with the online children's lit mag, The Edge of the Forest.
